Making A Statement With Less: Monochromatic Dressing

A monochromatic outfit idea heavy on the navy

We get lots of questions about how to pair this with that, rules for matching colors and how to mix patterns. While those are good things to know and understand, it doesn’t have to be an everyday struggle.

In fact, if you are looking to make a statement, look no further than dispensing with the patterns and complementary colors and keeping everything in the same color family.

Here is one way to rock an all-navy look.

If you are new to monochromatic dressing, consider navy your gateway color. Chances are you already have a lot of it in your wardrobe and there are not many kinds of dark blue that don’t go together.

As an added bonus, navy is extremely versatile, acceptable in just about every social context and looks great on everyone.

A subtle pattern will give a monochromatic look a healthy dose of depth and interest. I need to give a shout out to my friends at Ring Jacket for making such an exceptional coat. A perfect mix of classic and modern and a real head-turner to boot.
