Tips for looking dapper in the summer heat
If you are a sartorially-inclined man, which you probably are if you’re reading this site, then you know that looking dapper in the heat is not always easily accomplished. We’ve commented on this subject before, but today for our final June capsule wardrobe post, we’re talking about a few different ways to achieve the desired effect.
Roll up your sleeves. There are various methods for rolling your sleeves. We’ll be doing a full-blown tutorial later this month, but in a nutshell, this is how we recommend doing it.
First, unbutton both the cuff and gauntlet buttons. Fold the sleeve up until it is just at your elbow. Next, execute two rolls. The first roll will help pull the sleeve taught, the second should cover up about half of the cuff. This roll is a little sloppy but that’s why I like it – it’s not perfect. In fact, I like to fold the cuff down slightly to give it a bit more character.
One less button. Unbuttoning one button lower than usual is a simple way to add some extra casual cool. If you’re already unbuttoning this far, disregard the previous sentence to avoid looking like a 1980s cocaine cowboy.
Top it off. If you don’t consider yourself a “hat guy” it might be time to give it a try. A hat cuts a great silhouette and will completely transform your look. Imagine this look without the hat and tell me it doesn’t help make this outfit.
Show some ankle. Haters gonna hate when it comes to the no socks look, but for a summer look that’s cool and chic it is the perfect match. Again, imagine this look with socks and tell me it doesn’t look better this way.
