Experiencing the Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix in London style

In a move befitting the launch of a new collection aimed squarely at attracting the next generation of watch enthusiasts to the brand, Vacheron Constantin tapped a handful of international tastemakers to celebrate, and experience, the new Fiftysix watches in London last fall. I was honored to be one of two representatives from the United States.

Our entire crew, which we dubbed “The High Watchmaking Gentleman’s Club”, included myself, Alexander Friedman of Watchonista, Anish Bhatt of Watch Anish, Wei Koh from The Rake and Revolution, Fabio Attanasio, Yoshimasa Hoshiba, and Mr. Kira. During our three-day stay, we shared some amazing, only-in-London, experiences, including the Tower Bridge, the Shard, cocktails and whiskey at an underground bar, consultations at Cifonelli, and a memorable evening smoking cigars on a rooftop across from Harrod’s.

I must say that since I started HSS nearly six years ago now, I have been a part of many brand programs and “activations”, as they are known in the biz, and Vacheron Constantin really and truly got this one right. Often times when a collection of individuals is rounded up and tossed together, it can really feel and look like it was manufactured in the worst way possible.

However, I can tell you that while I knew a few of these gentlemen personally prior to this experience, the entire group bonded immediately around our shared love of fine watches, men’s style, living like a gentleman, and of course, Vacheron Constantin.

Gentlemen, it was a pleasure! And chapeau, Vacheron Constantin! Hope you enjoy some of the shots here and in the slideshow above.

Thanks for reading.

A turtleneck sweater is one of my favorite pieces of knitwear during the fall and winter months. Turtlenecks have a casual elegance and sophistication about them and are incredibly versatile. Whether you wear a turtleneck with jeans, a suit, of a blazer/trousers combination, it will always add a touch of refinement and finesse. In this this video, I'm showing you 10 different ways to wear and style a turtleneck from casual to dressed up.

Although I style six turtlenecks in this video--navy, tan, brown, grey, red, and black--I have a few more in my closet. And most of them are from Uniqlo. I have not found a better quality turtleneck at the price offered at Uniqlo. My favorites from the brand are all the extra fine merino wool. They're extremely easy to layer, especially under a suit jacket, and are thin enough to tuck into my trousers, as I do in the first look in this video.
