Dressing up is fairly easy. And so is dressing down, or casually. It’s that middle ground somewhere in between that is often elusive. How do you look comfortable and put together at the same time? One of my favorite ways is to combine tailored pieces with more casual items. Here’s an example.

A heather grey crew neck sweatshirt is more versatile than it may seem. Great for working out, lounging around the house, and with a pair of jeans it’s a classic, no-brainer casual outfit. But throw one on over some sharply tailored dress pants and a button-down shirt for something more unexpected and effortlessly stylish. Perfect for a Casual Friday or weekend brunch date.

Footwear also sets the tone and can make or break an outfit. These burgundy double monks are one of my favorite “everyday” pairs of shoes. That is, when I don’t just slip on my white sneakers.
