In your day to day, what’s the first coat you think to grab before heading out the door? Peacoat? Quilted jacket? Leather bomber? Wool topcoat? Something military-inspired? How about a khaki trench coat? Because of it’s timeless style and the fact that it pairs so well with a suit, a khaki trench might not be the first coat that jumps to mind. But like all classic menswear pieces, it’s got versatility built in. Add a classic touch to an everyday look with a lightweight khaki trench.

This outfit is fairly similar to last Friday’s post, which received mixed reviews from some readers, particularly on the Facebook page. I can usually tell if a particular look will be divisive among the HSS faithful, and I honestly didn’t think this would be one of them! It was actually a personal favorite, so the blowback caught me a bit off guard. What’s the lesson here? Simple. Wear what you love no matter what others may say.
I’ve written a lot about a denim jacket as a lightweight piece of outerwear. However, don’t overlook it as an inner layer. Just make sure it fits properly – snug around the torso, just like a waistcoat.
Thanks for reading.
Stylishly Yours,
