One of the questions I’m often asked is, “Do you get dressed up all the time?” The answer: no. Absolutely not. There are days when the last thing I want to think about is putting on a button-up, blazer, tie, and a pair of dress shoes. Particularly on the weekends, I just want to catch up on some sleep, roll out of bed, and head to my favorite coffee shop. It’s on these days that I’ll reach for the casual essentials.

If you’re a regular reader, you can skip this sentence, but one thing I’d love for more men to understand is that being a student of style does not mean wearing a suit a tie all the time. That is a style, but it’s not style. You can be casual and still be stylish.
Some basic casual style essentials? A heather gray athletic sweatshirt, black denim, and white leather low top sneakers.
I love adding tailored or dressier elements to more casual looks. It’s interesting and unexpected. A lightweight khaki trench works just as well with casual neutrals as it does dressed up or in-between.
Thanks for reading.
