I like showing how making minor changes to one look can completely—and sometimes drastically—transform it into something else. You can see an example of this in action here and here. Today’s post takes a simple look that I published two weeks ago and makes a few minor adjustments to create a dramatically different outcome.
The look I’m referring to used the same basic foundation as this one—chambray shirt, jeans, and dress boots—but kept it very casual and basic with just the addition of a navy blazer. An easy everyday kind of style that’s both sharp and relaxed.
This type of look can be easily transformed by remembering that simple foundations and neutral color schemes make great canvases for bolder statement pieces. Swap the navy blazer for a plaid one—it could be more muted or as bold as you want to go—and throw on a knit tie for a look that’s perfect for cocktails, a dinner date, or the office, depending on your workplace.
This Look: Blazer by Brooks Brothers (Black Fleece) – Shirt by J.Crew – Jeans by A.P.C. (New Standard) – Tie by Gitman Bros. (similar here or splurge) – Pocket square by The Tie Bar (similar here) – Watch by Timex – Belt c/o Banana Republic – Wingtip dress boots c/o Allen Edmonds (Dalton)
Is the “small changes, big impact” idea something your practice with your own wardrobe?
Thanks for reading.
