Puppytooth is a two tone pattern consisting of abstract four-sided shapes in alternating colors. It is a smaller version of "houndstooth" or "dogstooth". Houndstooth, also known as “shepherd's check”, is a classic pattern that gained its name from it's resemblance to the shape of a dog's tooth. The houndstooth weave originated in the early 19th century in the Scottish lowlands and was first used in outerwear garments worn by shepherds. Today, this pattern is a staple in every well-dressed man's closet.
