I’m not sure what’s worse: being overdressed for something or being underdressed. Regardless of which you think is the more egregious style faux pas, it’s a consideration we’ve all likely wrestled with at one point or another. Is a suit too much for this meeting? Are jeans—even if I dress them up—a bit too casual? Finding that middle ground between dapper and looking sharp, but casual can be tricky. Here’s a look that walks that line.
A couple weeks ago, I was in NYC for another round of meetings. Unlike last time, I didn’t have to hop on a train early in the morning and be ready to go all day once I arrived. It was a little more relaxed and since I was staying in town, I didn’t have to be so strategic in my planning and packing.
What I did have to plan for, however, was a day to night transition from meetings to an art opening. So how could I keep it simple, stylish, and situationally versatile? The answer was a sleek, dark monochromatic look. Perfectly appropriate for the day’s meetings as well as the evening’s event.
