How Many Pairs of Jeans Do You Need?

Putting aside, for a moment, possessing multiple pairs of the same jeans, let’s answer the question of “how many jeans should a man own?” in terms of color. And that answer is simple: four!

Here are the four pairs of jeans every guy should have in his wardrobe.

1. Slim & Dark

This is your workhorse pair of jeans and one of the most versatile in your entire wardrobe. When you’re thinking of “dressing up denim,” this it the pair to reach for. Wear with a blazer for work or a first date, or with a simple white button up and a great pair of shoes for a classic sharp look.

2. Worn In

A pair of worn in denim should be a staple in every guy’s wardrobe. These are your casual pair for lounging around the house, working outside, running errands, and for the weekend.

Though you can buy “brand new” distressed jeans, the best ones are the pair you’ve worn in yourself. They feel like yours, have a signature look, and come complete with a sense of history and pride.

3. Black

Black jeans are certainly known for their badass casual connotations. What rock and roll kid doesn’t own at least five pairs? And while there’s no denying they look great with a t-shirt and leather jacket, for me, they really shine as an in-between dress pant.

4. White

White denim is something not every guy is going to feel like he can pull off. And, truthfully, they might not actually be for everyone. However, for the true style-enthusiast – especially one with a penchant for Italian style – they are de rigueur.

Contrary to popular belief, white denim is not just for summer. And, yes, it can be worn after Labor Day. In fact, breaking out the white denim in fall or winter is a sound sartorial move that looks fresh and is always in style.
