I’ll say it again: 2015 is going to be the year that the double-breasted blazer breaks into the mainstream. Though they’ve been a staple of menswear aficionados “in the know” for quite some time now, slimmer cuts and better tailoring are helping to change the view of the double-breasted blazer as an item that “I can’t pull off” into a viable option for any guy looking to step up his style.

Double-breasted blazers have also long been viewed as a more formal jacket option. While I think they look fantastic in that setting, it’s a very limiting approach to the garment. Lose the tie and wear it just like you would a single-breasted blazer and you’ve got a look that shows off your sartorial cojones.
One of the best things about menswear? You can do a lot with a little, especially when it comes to colors. Blue, grey, and white is a fail-safe color palate. Throw in a subtle plaid, an accent of color with your pocket square, and a killer pair of shoes, and you’re ready to go at the office, around town, or out on a date.
