What season can you wear suede shoes? There really is no wrong answer to that question. Suede shoes look great no matter what the season, though keeping them out of foul weather will ensure they always look great. Fall is my absolute favorite and certainly the perfect time to add a little colorful suede to your shoe game. I’ve teamed up with Johnston & Murphy to style one of the more iconic suede shoe colors. Here’s a simple way to work some blue suede shoes into your fall wardrobe.
When you’re dealing with any sort of colored shoe, an easy way to style them is to keep the rest of your look simple. By nature, a shoe that’s not a staple color like brown or black, for example, will make a bit of a statement—even the slightly more conservative dark navy Johnston & Murphy Ellingtons that I’m wearing. Just like with other statement pieces, allowing the bolder items to shine against a simpler backdrop is a failsafe way to work them into your wardrobe.
Last week I talked about using a denim jacket as a fresh alternative to a blazer. My general rule of thumb is light washed denim jacket paired with darker pants, and a dark denim jacket paired with lighter pants. Last week’s post illustrates the former and here’s an expression of the latter.
This Look: Dark denim jacket by Levi’s – White button down shirt by J.Crew – Khaki cotton dress pants by Brooks Brothers (part of suit, similar here) – Blue tie c/o Pocket Square Clothing (similar here) – Brown leather plaque belt by J.Crew – Watch with brown leather strap by Timex – Brown leather briefcase c/o Maxwell Scott Bags (similar here) – Sunglasses by Ray-Ban (Clubmaster) – Red and navy striped socks by Original Penguin – Navy blue suede shoes c/o Johnston & Murphy (Ellington)
