With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I know many of you will likely be looking for the perfect gift for her. In situations like this, I like to turn to the experts—i.e. the ladies—for help. So, I’ve invited my friend Jeanne from Shop Sweet Things to offer her advice on how to shop for your special lady this Valentine’s Day. Take it away, Jeanne!
For Valentine’s Day, my advice for the gents is to give her something that’s timeless, classic, and luxurious. You don’t need to break the bank, but it’s nice to give her something she will wear or use for more than two weeks. You know what I mean?! Here are some of my picks for whatever stage of a relationship you may be in.
Always a Good Idea
1. Steven Alan Car Coat, $465
2. Rodin Beauty Travel Set, $85
3. Diptyque Limited Edition Rosa Mundi Candle, $65
4. J.Crew Pyramid-Stud Crystal Necklace, $75
5. Banana Republic Sloan Pencil Skirt, $50
If you’re early on in your relationship, I would suggest gifting pretty jewelry, luxurious candles and beauty sets, and ready-to-wear pieces like a classic overcoat or pencil skirt.

A Lady Loves Bags
1. Loeffler Randall Lock Clutch, $395
2. J.Crew Claremont Purse, $250
3. Clare Vivier Simple Tote, $429
4. Clare Vivier Sweetheart Clutch, $145
5. 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Hour Bag, $795
If you’re unsure of her style, I think going with a nice bag or leather goods is always a good call. I picked out a few of my favorites here in classic shapes and colors, and trust me, these will stay in her closet for a long time! I have the Clare Vivier simple tote in navy hair and I can always count on it to add some fresh glam to an everyday outfit.

Get a Little More Intimate
1. Maison Close Satine Corset Bra, $57.50
2. Herbivore Botanicals Bath Salt, $20
3. Equipment Silk Robe, $130
4. Byredo Parfums La Tulipe, $220
5. Marc de Champagne Pink Chocolate Truffles, $23
I always admire a man who can pick out some tasteful intimate pieces for his lady. If you’re in the more serious relationship zone, go for something that will make her feel sexy all around. Think pretty lace and silky lingerie paired with her favorite bath products or perfume. And why not throw in a box of chocolate truffles for some major bonus points?
