Gray trousers are a staple of a classic menswear wardrobe. Gray flannel trousers are the best option for fall and winter, but what is the equivalent for spring and summer? The answer is tropical wool.

Now, wool might not seem like a warm weather fabric, but it actually is and it has three distinct advantages.

First, one of wool’s super powers is that it’s incredibly strong, which means you can make a very lightweight and durable version of the fabric.

Second, wool can be woven more openly, giving it superior breathability.

And third, you know, one of the worst things about cotton and linen, which are fabrics we think of as spring and summer fabrics, is that the wrinkle very easy. Wool, on the other hand, does not, which gives you a more polished look without compromising comfort.

I’m often accused of having “boring style.”

I’m often accused of having “boring style.” But I think what people actually mean when they say that is basically that my style is simple.

Suit and tie. Sport coat and trousers. Loafers or lace up’s. A simple pocket square. That’s me. And if that’s quote unquote “boring,” well, that’s fine because there are three incredible benefits to dressing that way.

The first is that it will always look good. A “boring style” wardrobe consists of classics — those timeless menswear pieces that always have been and always will be in style.

Second, a simple and classic wardrobe makes it really easy to get dressed.Everything is versatile, it can pretty much all be paired together, which means it doesn’t require much thought. Think about what you could do with all that extra brain space.

And third, when you curate a classic menswear wardrobe, it’s pretty much definitive. So if you buy once and buy well, you’re set for a long time, which makes a lot of financial sense.
