How to look and stay cool this Memorial Day weekend in cotton and linen

Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer, brings with it pool parties, barbecues and hopefully a welcome dose of warmer weather.

If your weekend includes a meal or cocktails at a nice restaurant in addition to – or in place of – any of the above activities, you’ll want to dress appropriately.

Here’s some inspiration in cotton and linen that’s sure to keep you cool and looking good.

It can’t be overstated how important it is to choose fabrics seasonally. For breathability and comfort in the heat, nothing beats cotton and linen.

If you’re reading this post, you’ve likely already got the requisite navy blazer in your closet, but for spring and summer, remember that a lighter shade of blue is a better match for the season. This cotton blazer is currently in heavy rotation.

A chambray or denim shirt always gives a blazer/trousers combo a casual touch.

Summer – whether unofficial or not – is also the start of hardcore loafer season for me. Always san socks – well, no-show socks, to be more accurate.
