The balmacaan coat is a long and loose-fitting style made with a thick gabardine or heavy tweed and characterized by raglan sleeves, a Prussian collar and hidden button closures extending all the way up to the neck. Made with a large brown houndstooth-patterned fabric from W. Bill, our version stays true to the original with a few modern flourishes. We've cropped the overall length slightly so it hits just below the knee, given the silhouette a more contemporary feel and added a quilted Thinsulate inner lining for extra warmth. Woven from 100% new wool, this cloth will be a pleasure to wear for a long time to come.

You can chose one of two different sizing methods: Off-the-Rack Sizing and Made-to-Measure Sizing.
Off-the-rack sizing lets you order garments in a standard size. Since the garments are still made just for you, we are able to offer a much larger selection of sizes than any store would typically stock. The other benefit is that garments ordered in off-the-rack sizes are shipped in under four weeks and can be exchanged for a different size if needed.
We offer the most advanced and detailed online made-to-measure fitting process. Each order is carefully reviewed by our patternmaker before we make a test garment to double-check your measurements and properly adjust for various body characteristics like sloping shoulders or an athletic chest.
