My favorite picks from Nordstrom’s 1901 collection
In partnership with Nordstrom and ShopStyle.
For a lot of guys, myself very much included, fall is the absolute best season for menswear. On the dressier end of the spectrum, we’re talking flannels, tweed, and big heavy coats. And of course, there are scarves, sweaters, and layers upon layers. Today, I’m going to sharing three of my favorite casual pieces for fall, featuring items from Nordstrom’s stylish and affordable 1901 collection.
Military jacket. When it comes to casual looks, you can’t go wrong with a military-inspired piece. And a classic olive green jacket is a great place to start. It’s rugged. It’s masculine. And it’s built to last.
I remember when I was a young kid, taking my father’s old Vietnam-era fatigues out and trying them on for size. The jacket I’m wearing is very reminiscent of that one. One thing that’s different, however, is that my jacket has a lining, which makes it a great choice if you’re looking for a versatile transitional piece for your fall casual wardrobe.
Nautical striped long sleeve t-shirt. Nautical stripes aren’t just for summer. One of my favorite winter sweaters is a classic French sailor sweater and this long sleeve t-shirt became an instant favorite as soon as I tried it on. (N.B. I’ll be doing a try-on video featuring all of these items next week on the channel.) It looks great with jeans, but also works well with a nice pair of charcoal flannel trousers.
Suede chelsea boots. Fall is also prime time for footwear. While loafers rule the day during the summer, when the temperatures drop, it’s game on for boots. A good pair of suede Chelsea boots belongs in every man’s fall lineup. If you’ve read HSS for a while, you know that I’m fond of saying that the Chelsea boot is the loafer of the boot world. And if you’ve ever worn a pair yourself you know why. They’re easy to slide on and off and ridiculously comfortable.
