For the uninitiated, the Concorso d’Eleganza is the most important classic car event in all of Europe, and perhaps the world. It’s like Pebble Beach, only in Italy, on Lake Como, at one of the most ridiculously opulent villas you can imagine.
To say it is an exclusive event would be a vast understatement. Only about 50 cars qualify to show and compete, while past winners have included the likes of none other than Mr. Ralph Lauren and his beautiful 1938 Bugatti. Get the picture?
Our trip was packed with wonderful experiences – elegant dinners, Riva boat trips, a classic car rally, a tour of the Villa Carlotta, many a Negroni and Aperol Spritz and, of course, great company. Among our tribe was our good friend Ben Clymer from Hodinkee, Wei Koh of The Rake, Ted Gushue of Petrolicious, watch collector and sartorial savant Ahmed Rahman, and journalist Andrew Hildreth.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words – and because they’re much more beautiful than anything I could possibly write to describe the entire weekend – I’ll let the photos below do the talking. Enjoy!
