I bet that headline got your attention, right? As part of their men’s fall fashion preview, Playboy invited me to contribute a post on burgundy accent pieces. Burgundy happens to be one of my favorite colors in addition to simply being a fantastic color for fall. Click here to read my piece on Playboy, featuring the gorgeous Elena Romanova—I would classify this link as mostly safe for work (i.e. no nudity) but perhaps not appropriate for all workplaces—and read on to see my look featuring my Alton Lane brown suit with burgundy accents.

What can brown do for you? A lot. Though I wouldn’t call a dark brown suit a wardrobe essential, it’s something I definitely consider a “next step” once you’ve got the basic navy, grey, and black suits covered. While I loved my wearing my khaki suit this summer, a deep and rich brown is a great choice for fall.
Choosing a tie and pocket square combination is a topic that comes up a lot. In general, the best advice I can give is to avoid matching your tie and pocket square at all costs. Instead, make sure they complement each other and pull in colors from the entire look. Don’t limit the color range to just the two items. The perfect pocket square serves as an anchor to a look and is often the glue that holds it all together.
