I realize this isn’t the most timely or seasonally appropriate post given the sudden shift to summer heat—we’ve already had a few days in the 90s here—but I needed this sweatshirt on the morning we took these photos. So if you’re somewhere that’s too hot to even consider this, go ahead and file it away for early spring or fall inspiration. But, if you live in a cooler climate or work in an office where the air conditioning is set to ‘Arctic,’ this one’s for you.
A sweatshirt is a simple and casual alternative to the standard sweater as a layer over a shirt and tie. It’s relaxed, comfortable, and easy—very much a throw on and go option. Basic pieces are always no-brainers. Chinos and a button-up shirt has pretty much been my uniform this spring (and now summer) when I don’t have much time in the morning. While the standard heather grey is great for smart casual looks, a dark blue is more likely to fit into a work environment.
