Dress Up Your Leather Jacket

Among the many items I look forward to breaking out of the closet once fall arrives, my leather jackets are top on that list. As a staple menswear piece, a leather jacket is often cast in a casual and cool context. But don’t discount its versatility. Here’s one way to dress it up.

Give your office look a bit of an edge by substituting your blazer with a sharp black leather bomber. A great option if you’re not feeling like wearing a full suit and an especially great option when your plans after work include drinks and a night out on the town. In this context, a leather jacket works best when it’s simple – meaning, no extra (or unnecessary) details, pockets, and/or zippers.

The right sunglasses can take a look to the next level. I’ve been branching out from my usual Clubmasters and Persols recently. I found these limited edition Oliver Peoples at Saks a few weeks ago and couldn’t pass them up.
