Exceptional (and affordable) luxury gifts for him
“Luxury is a necessity that begins where necessity ends,” said Coco Chanel famously. In other words, do you really need luxury items? You certainly don’t need them, but they can honestly make you feel pretty damn good. The thing is, while we generally think of luxury goods as expensive items that we typically can’t afford, it is possible to add a dose of luxury to your daily life at a reasonable price point. It’s with this in mind that we present a gift guide featuring several exceptional, yet affordable, luxury gift ideas.
A unique and practical conversation piece. Remember the first time you held a “nice” watch in your hand? The heft it had that told you, wow, this is really something? We guarantee that is the reaction you’ll have when picking up this elegant and unique brass piece. A cool, and cool-looking, solution that is also super practical.

A manly room scent. Last year around this time, we did a round-up of the manliest smelling candles and one, Diptyque’s Feu de Bois was at the top of our list. The price tag is certainly high for some, but it’s rather affordable compared to even some mid-level home fragrances you’ll see such as the Cire Trudon line. We knew we wanted to offer a masculine candle, but one that wasn’t as ubiquitous as, say, a Diptyque. That’s why we chose the fantastically under-the-radar Brooklyn-based D.S. & Durga and their aptly named Portable Fireplace candle for the shop.
D.S. & Durga Portable Fireplace Candle, $65
Music to your ears. There’s no argument from us that there are some fantastic sounding in-ear headphones available these days. But, you know what, they just don’t have the same style and classic design factor that makes you want to make listening to music an event. Master & Dynamic’s classic MH40 over-ear headphones not only sound great, but they look amazing simply displayed in any room.
Master & Dynamic MH40 Over-Ear Headphones, $399
The right whiskey glass. One of our five rules for drinking whiskey like a gentleman is to make sure you’re consuming it in the proper vessel. Forget the double old fashioned glasses and step into a real glass, like the Glencairn or Norlan.
Glencairn Whiskey Glasses (Set of Two), $16.99
Norlan Whiskey Glasses (Set of Two), $48
Small detail, big impact. Just like details such as your pocket square, neck tie, cufflinks, socks or watch can really make your outfit, the same goes for the details of your living space. A brass tray is a gentleman’s utility player at home. Use it as an accent on your home office desk, on the coffee table to keep things neat, or on the top of your dresser as an elegant way to display your colognes.
The picture of refinement. We all know a guy – maybe you’re one yourself – who is a true connoisseur. Wine, scotch, cigars, because knowing everything you can about something makes you a more informed consumer and allows you to truly enjoy whatever you are partaking in. For this man, we have a special limited edition print in his honor.
“The Connoisseur” Limited Edition Print by Tug Rice, $75
