There is no color more versatile in menswear than navy. As a foundation for any look from casual to business to formal, nothing will give you a bigger bang for your buck. With a suit, it’s a blank canvas for any number of shirt/tie/pocket square combinations. And for casual attire, a pair of slim dark denim is the basis for countless looks. Basically, you can’t go wrong. Ever. But how about all navy? I’ve done it before last winter, but here’s a look for now or any time you’re feeling like making a monochromatic statement.

Monochromatic is so simple, yet looks so powerful. Think of it an one of the easiest ways to make a statement. With any monochromatic ensemble, subtlety rules the day. Play around with slightly different hues of navy, subtle patterns, and different fabrics and textures. Remember that you don’t necessarily need a bold statement item—socks, tie, blazer, et al.—to make a statement. In my opinion, subtlety is the ultimate statement.

A navy on navy ensemble could be a little commanding for an everyday office look, but if you’re the boss, well… Pair it with a navy tie for something very assertive or leave a couple buttons undone for a great swanky restaurant, lounge, or nightclub look.
