Here’s a quick explanation of the differences between custom, made to measure, and bespoke when it comes to tailored clothing like suits, sport coats, blazers, shirts, and trousers as well as how He Spoke Style provides a service and experience as close to bespoke as possible at a made to measure price point.

Custom basically means that you are able to “customize” parts of your suit. So you can choose the fabric, buttons, pocket style, lapel style, etc. When you’re talking specifically about custom and customization, none of these choices have any effect whatsoever on the size or fit of the garment.

With made to measure, you get all the customization options but you also have control of the sizing. You work off a pre-existing pattern that’s as close as possible to your size and then you’re able to dial in the measurements so it’s more tailored for you.

Now, some companies only allow you to make certain changes but at He Spoke Style we give you control over 15 specific measurements to help you get the most perfect fit possible.

With bespoke, everything basically starts from scratch. Based on your measurements, a unique pattern is created specifically for you. And you have pretty much unlimited control over every detail, which is why bespoke suits are so expensive.

The question was: what inspired you to start He Spoke Style? I’ll sum it up in less than 60 seconds...

Back at the end of 2012, I made the decision that I was finally going to start putting time and effort into developing my personal style and building a wardrobe mostly focused on classic menswear.

So I went online to start doing some research and basically couldn’t find what I was looking for. There were the informational websites and forums that I didn’t really vibe with the attitude there and then you had these trendy more street style younger guys — also not my thing.

I was 35 years old at the time and I just couldn’t find anything that spoke to me — either in the style of dress or the tone that it was being written.

So I decided that I would begin chronicling my own journey and sharing what I was discovering along the way and that is basically how He Spoke Style came into being.
