The video we created for Zegna tells one part of a story. It’s a story of nostalgia, of remembrance, of intrigue, and the power of fragrance to evoke these feelings. And while the video shows an elegant evening out, I wanted to create a companion style editorial that would add to that narrative.

A scent can recall a moment in time, a particular feeling or emotion, an experience. We talk a lot about details in menswear, and I view fragrance as one of those details. Not just any detail, though—the final detail, the perfect finishing touch. And what should a fragrance be? What does it have the power to do? A fragrance should be intriguing. A fragrance can define you.

These were some of the thoughts and ideas I sought to capture in this video for Zegna's Essenze Collection. Inspired by feelings of nostalgia for my Italian travels and the scent of Zegna's Italian Bergamot fragrance, I wanted to tell the story of the power scents have to transport us to another time and place.
