The question was: what inspired you to start He Spoke Style? I’ll sum it up in less than 60 seconds...

Back at the end of 2012, I made the decision that I was finally going to start putting time and effort into developing my personal style and building a wardrobe mostly focused on classic menswear.

So I went online to start doing some research and basically couldn’t find what I was looking for. There were the informational websites and forums that I didn’t really vibe with the attitude there and then you had these trendy more street style younger guys — also not my thing.

I was 35 years old at the time and I just couldn’t find anything that spoke to me — either in the style of dress or the tone that it was being written.

So I decided that I would begin chronicling my own journey and sharing what I was discovering along the way and that is basically how He Spoke Style came into being.

The question was: would you recommend the Alden 684 full strap loafer?

100-percent yes.

I own a pair in Color 8 cordovan. One of my absolute favorite pairs of shoes that I own. They’re classic. Versatile. Very easy to style. So comfortable. The color is unique — it’s quite stunning. And it’s a loafer that, to many people, will just look like a classic penny loafer but to those who really know their footwear, they will know exactly what this is.

If you’re considering it, I would definitely recommend going to a shop to try them on. It’s a notoriously hard shoe to fit because the vamp is so low — I actually have a tongue pad in mine.

If you’re curious, I typically wear a US size 9, in Crockett & Jones I take a UK 7, and this pair of Alden’s is actually 8.5 D.

So, these shoes are pretty expensive, but in my opinion, they are completely worth the investment and I guarantee that if you get a pair for yourself that you will love them.
