Valentine’s Day is a mere four days away, which means it’s high time you start thinking about what to get your girlfriend! While many of us (myself included) may be a bit cynical towards the holiday, most women still like to receive a thoughtful reminder of how you feel about her – no matter how big or small. There are two ways to go about it.

The first includes a nice bouquet of flowers (bonus points if you send to her work), cooking dinner, or a surprise reservation at her favorite restaurant, taking our Italian guy’s advice and calling ahead to make sure a rose is waiting on the table when you arrive.

The other, which includes a present, takes a little more thought – what’s on earth should I get her? – but that time spent will be greatly rewarded.

Here are some suggestions to get you started.

5 Last-Minute Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Her

1. All girls like candles. All women love Diptyque. This year the brand released a special edition candle that replaces a bouquet of roses with a candle that happens to smell like one.

2. You may think an agenda/planner sounds a bit ho-hum, but if you go through and leave notes on important days (first date, anniversary, a memorable trip coming up), you will win her heart all over again.

3. If you are near a Barney’s, Saks or a Le Labo store, you can create a custom Le Labo fragrance and personalize the label with a heart, or an “I love you” message. May I suggest Lys 41?

4. You can also never go wrong with that quintessential Valentine’s Day gift: lingerie. She’ll feel sexy, you’ll enjoy how she looks when she’s feeling sexy… it’s really a no-brainer.

5. Browse the slideshow above for several more specific suggestions.

No matter what you choose – even if you only have time to do one thing – please, please get her a card. It’s quite possibly all she really wants. Well, that, and for you to pick the perfect outfit for your date.
