Patterns & Textures: Advanced Fall Style

September 25th, 2015

Since we’ve been talking about the keys to fall style recently – though the focus has mostly been on casual fall style – I thought I’d bring out some tailored inspiration that highlights a couple more advanced style concepts: patterns and textures.

One key to great fall style, is a killer coat. You’ve got to have at least one in your wardrobe. It can be a simple, well-tailored number or something a little more adventurous. I’m digging this plaid wool one by Bob. Yes, Bob.

The black watch plaid is bold, but not overwhelming and the texture is exquisite. A coat like this you’d assume might be an investment piece, but at just over $300, you’re getting investment quality at a fair price.

A waistcoat is menswear’s unsung hero. No piece is more versatile or has quite the singular ability to instantly elevate any look, especially casual ones. As you know, I always love adding tailored elements into any look I can.

Texture can extend beyond your clothes to what you keep in your pockets. A key chain is usually an after thought, but the right one goes a long way to showing you’ve considered everything. All the details matter.
