I

If there’s one thing I have been on quite a bit this summer it’s white. I’ve definitely given my white denim a workout whether dressed up or more casually. What can I say? As far as summer colors go, I love the simplicity of white—crisp, clean, and cool. It really brings out the minimalist in me and is the perfect launching pad for making a statement by doing more with less.

I am a huge fan of using neutral colors as a sort of blank canvas for a look. A neutral foundation, such as white or khaki, gives you the freedom to pick one or two pieces to really accent an outfit and make it stand out. I’ve been looking for a way to use the blue linen blazer from my REISS suit for a while and this just seemed like an incredibly natural fit.

I’ve gotten a few questions about suit jackets and blazers with working sleeve buttons; particularly if you do have working sleeve buttons on your blazer, how many should you button or unbutton? As a general rule of thumb, leaving just one unbuttoned is a safe bet. I obviously don’t always abide by that rule. It’s a conscious choice but one I don’t stay up at night thinking about. Rules are great templates, but always open to interpretation.
