Clubmasters, Aviators, Wayfarers and more
Sunglasses are an easy tool to use to completely transform your look. The style of frame you choose can instantly alter the look, feel, mood and attitude of any outfit. In fact, you could wear a simple outfit like I have on in the video and make it completely different just by switching up your frames.
Below are several styles of sunglasses every man of style should consider having in his arsenal.
Oliver Peoples Banks “Clubmaster”
If you’re wondering why the scare quotes around Clubmaster in the heading to this section, it’s because in order to be a true Clubmaster, the brand needs to be Ray-Ban. However, the Clubmaster style is now ubiquitous with many brands making their version of the frame. A true classic, the Clubmaster style frame is extremely versatile and looks great with everything. From a suit, to business casual, to straight up casual.

Aviators are an interesting beast. Some people gravitate towards them naturally and pull them off with panache, while others find themselves a little averse to the style. Having been in the latter category some years ago, I understand the hesitation. You might think they the lenses are too big or they make you look goofy. They don’t. The only thing holding you back is getting used to seeing yourself in a pair. A great starting point is the classic Ray-Ban aviator.

When you are ready to step up into a serious aviator frame, you’re ready for the Persol 649. Another true classic, these are great frames for driving because of the immense amount of coverage you get from the large lenses.

Similar to the 649 but with a badass pedigree. The Persol 714 gained worldwide notoriety gracing the face of one Steve McQueen. The folding bridge and arms make them extremely unique.

Oliver Peoples M-4
You should always have a funky pair of sunglasses in your repertoire. A round shape with a colored lens. These won’t be your everyday frames but for when you’re “feeling it” you’ll be glad you have them. The Oliver Peoples M-4 (OV1138s) is my personal favorite.

Oliver Goldsmith Lord
The Wayfarer is another classic Ray-Ban design that has been adapted by many other brands. Rather than choose the standard fare, with this type of style, it’s always fun to look for something a little different, a little unique and with some of its own character. Made famous by Michael Caine back in the late 1960s, Oliver Goldsmith does a great version. It’s big and bad – a true “Hollywood” frame.
