Finding that middle ground between causal and dressed up can often be challenging. There are always those occasions—cocktails or date nights, for example—when jeans and a casual button-up aren’t quite enough and a full on suit is definitely too much. I call that in-between style sharp casual and it usually involves combining elements from both worlds. If you stock your closet with simple and stylish basics, it’s an easy look to pull off even if you only have a few minutes to get ready before rushing out the door.

Many readers have written to ask where they can find stylish and affordable clothing online and I will invariably point them to ASOS. If you’re on a budget—or even if you’re not—ASOS is a great fit all around. They definitely sell a lot of street style clothing, but there are also plenty of dapper options, to be sure. The double breasted blazer I’m wearing (as well as the burgundy shoes) have become staples of my fall wardrobe.

Even if your style has graduated from your school days, don’t write off a good looking backpack as a bag option. It’s a perfect daily casual carryall for rushing around the city on a few errands or heading to the gym.
